2 O'Clock

It's 2 O'Clock now and I should be off to bed. Sounds like that should be lyrics to a song or something. God is doing some cool things in our student ministry at Sugarloaf. We had a record number of students (92) on a Wed night a couple weeks ago, and I know it's not all about numbers. But, as my boss Drew would say, "God did call a book of the Bible Numbers." We also have had 5 students commit their lives to Christ in the past two weeks, Life Change is what it's all about! One of our students, Collin Jones felt God leading him to start a campus ministry. So, last Thursday morning "The Remedy" began for North Gwinnett students and 64 turned out at 6:30 AM!
I love our student ministry team, I get to go to work everyday and work with some my best friends. So you will know how to pray our team includes: Trey McDaniel, Kris Anderson, Kevin Sanders, and Tyler Recker. Pray for us! Pray that we continue to put away any selfish desires and remain focused on the purpose of Inside Out Student Ministry. The job is never done.
In fact, stay with me as I share a story to let you in on how the job is always with us. Last Friday night Tyler, Kris, and I hung out for dinner at Chili's. We enjoyed the bottomless chips, and some burgers. We also drew a funny picture of Drew and our waitress hung it on the wall. But, Chili's just wasn't enough. We had to go get some Bruster's icecream. That's where we met Eric. He is a 9th grader at Berkmar HS. He was doing some tricks on his skateboard at Bruster's and saw Tyler's ESV Bible. He started talking to us about church and asked if our youth group "reps the JC". That means do you represent Jesus Christ, and yes we do. We gave him some ways he could contact us. Well, Eric decided to contact us at 1AM via my cell phone tonight waking me up out of a dead sleep. He wants to come to youth group. Pray that he gets there on Wed Night. Pray that the dude continues to contact us, preferablly not at 1AM. So, that's why it is 2 O'Clock now and I should be off to bed...again.
Glory to God for the amazing things that He has in the works!

A Labor Day Post!

Well, Today is labor day, it's what they call a day off. So, that's what I've done taken a day off. It's been a while since I've posted a blog. Well, let's be honest I have only posted one blog-pretty pitiful. But, I have a day off. Why not spend some time bloggin!
I wanted to talk for a few minutes about spending time with God. Yesterday I had the opportunity to preach a message called, Hide Away. I talked about the importance of spending time with our Heavenly Father. The bottom line being that Solitude leads the way to intimacy with our Heavenly Father. I don't ever want to deliver messages that don't move my own heart. I guess you could say that I want to practice what I preach.
This leads me to my personal quiet times. I have had awesome quiet times the last few days. I have switched things up quiet a bit. I am doing things that I have never done in my quiet times. I am reading through the Gospel of Matthew along with a commenatry by J.C. Ryle. It's been interesting. In the past I have spent my quiet times trying to get through the Bible in a year. Trying to check off another box in the ol' Bible Reading Plan. I'd get so discouraged if I missed a day. But, this time it's different. It's about knowing and understanding what God is saying. God communicates to us through His Word! What a thought! God has put together this infalible message to His people. He has allowed us to have a unique insight into the life of Jesus Christ-The God made man. How amazing! I'm not saying I am against the read through the Bible in the year thing. I espeacially love the Life Journal. I'm just saying that as Christians we've got to do something that allows us to connect to our God on a daily basis. It's critical to live out a real God glorifying lifestyle.
I say all of this to say-spend time with your Heavenly Father. I have been gently reminded by Him that He has much to say to me. I gues I am saying, solitude leads the way to intimacy with our Heavenly Father.
Happy Labor Day!
