A Labor Day Post!

Well, Today is labor day, it's what they call a day off. So, that's what I've done taken a day off. It's been a while since I've posted a blog. Well, let's be honest I have only posted one blog-pretty pitiful. But, I have a day off. Why not spend some time bloggin!
I wanted to talk for a few minutes about spending time with God. Yesterday I had the opportunity to preach a message called, Hide Away. I talked about the importance of spending time with our Heavenly Father. The bottom line being that Solitude leads the way to intimacy with our Heavenly Father. I don't ever want to deliver messages that don't move my own heart. I guess you could say that I want to practice what I preach.
This leads me to my personal quiet times. I have had awesome quiet times the last few days. I have switched things up quiet a bit. I am doing things that I have never done in my quiet times. I am reading through the Gospel of Matthew along with a commenatry by J.C. Ryle. It's been interesting. In the past I have spent my quiet times trying to get through the Bible in a year. Trying to check off another box in the ol' Bible Reading Plan. I'd get so discouraged if I missed a day. But, this time it's different. It's about knowing and understanding what God is saying. God communicates to us through His Word! What a thought! God has put together this infalible message to His people. He has allowed us to have a unique insight into the life of Jesus Christ-The God made man. How amazing! I'm not saying I am against the read through the Bible in the year thing. I espeacially love the Life Journal. I'm just saying that as Christians we've got to do something that allows us to connect to our God on a daily basis. It's critical to live out a real God glorifying lifestyle.
I say all of this to say-spend time with your Heavenly Father. I have been gently reminded by Him that He has much to say to me. I gues I am saying, solitude leads the way to intimacy with our Heavenly Father.
Happy Labor Day!
